Kilbride is the hamlet in rural north Burlington on the escarpment, between Mount Nemo and Lowville, where estate lots and old farmhouses share the ridge and the view runs all the way to the lake.

Escarpment lots are the most beautiful and the most complicated sites we work on. Many are sloped, so a sauna or tub needs a level pad or a built-up deck, and the access route for a crane or a truck has to be walked in advance. A Serenity Mini at $14,995 fits a couple on a deck facing the view; the full Serenity Sauna suits the larger properties along Cedar Springs Road. Kilbride is on wells, so water care is set up for hard water, and the hydro panel in an older farmhouse may need an upgrade before a 240V Jacuzzi goes in.

Snow and ice are heavier up here than in the city below, and the wind across the ridge is real, so cover quality and placement out of the west wind are the first things we discuss. Much of Kilbride falls under Niagara Escarpment planning controls as well as Burlington's own rules, so a shed-sized sauna can need a development permit that a downtown Burlington homeowner never thinks about. Ask the city and the escarpment commission early. The people who live here tend to want the outdoor sauna and cold plunge routine more than a tub, and the setting suits it.
