The pool-sized yards in Old Oakville, Roseland and Lorne Park are where most of our swim spas end up, often on the footprint of a pool that was costing more to open and close than it was worth. Households that want both a workout and a soak choose the J-19DT PowerPro at $60,895 or the SwimExpert DualStream 19 at $56,095, each with a separate hot water zone. The J-13 PowerPlay at $33,195 is the family choice with eight seats and a gentler current the kids can play against.
Delivery is by crane in nearly every Halton yard, lifting over the house from the street, so we look at overhead wires, tree canopy and where the truck can sit before we quote. The town may require a road occupancy permit for the crane on a busy street, so check with them early. The spa sits on a reinforced concrete pad or is partly sunk into a deck; on Halton clay the pad design matters, and we supply the specification your contractor needs. A full-foam shell and a fitted cover keep it swimmable through a lakeshore winter without startling hydro bills.
Swim Spas Questions
Can a swim spa go where my old in-ground pool used to be?
Often, yes, and it is one of the most common jobs we do in Oakville and south Burlington. The old pool is demolished and backfilled with compacted granular, then a new pad is poured on top; the existing pool electrical is sometimes reusable after inspection. You keep the patio and the landscaping and lose the opening, closing and heating bills that came with the pool.
How does a crane delivery work on a narrow lakeshore street?
We visit first and plan where the crane and the flatbed will sit, which side of the house the lift clears and whether any hydro lines cross the path. On a tight street we may need a road occupancy permit, which the town issues, and we coordinate the time so neighbours are warned. The lift itself takes under an hour once the crane is set up.
Which length is right for a triathlete versus a family?
A serious swimmer wants the strongest current and the longest lane, which means a 19 foot PowerPro or the SwimExpert DualStream 19. A recreational swimmer who mostly wants to exercise is well served by a 14 or 16 foot model. Families who will spend more time playing than doing laps should look at the J-13 PowerPlay or J-12 Flow, which trade current strength for seats.
Will I actually use a swim spa in January in Halton?
Our customers do. The water sits at your chosen temperature under an insulated cover, so you open it, swim, and close it again; the air temperature matters less than you expect once you are moving. Lakeshore wind is the real factor, so we place the spa where the house or a fence blocks it. A short covered walkway from the door to the spa makes the difference between using it and admiring it.
Do I need a fence around a swim spa?
Most Halton municipalities treat a swim spa like a pool for enclosure purposes because of its depth, but the rules differ between Burlington, Oakville, Milton, Halton Hills and Hamilton. A lockable safety cover is sometimes accepted in place of a fence, sometimes not. Check with your town before you order so the fence or cover is part of the plan, not an afterthought.
